Six of One, Half a Dozen of the Other

22 Jul

It is weekly weigh in time again.  My weight loss is subjective this week.  I am down 3.5 pounds from last week, but if you remember, I was up 3 pounds then.  So technically, from my lowest weight on this plan, I am down only half a pound.

I personally am going with being down half a pound since 3 of the pounds I lost were previous regain.  With that said, I wanted more, but I am not going to throw a tantrum or pout about it.  I had a really good week.  I could have worked out more.  So, that is a goal for this week.  Food wise, I am trucking along with very little issues.  I have had more hunger at times this week than I can remember in a while.  I have been having some fun PMS business so I think that the hunger and slowed weight loss can be attributed to that.

I am amped for the meals I have coming up.  I have some meatless crumbles to make myself some beanless meatless chili and taco salad.  I also scored a spaghetti squash at the grocery, so stay tuned for my attempt at using spaghetti squash as a pasta substitute this week.  As I mentioned I want to get at least 4 days of working out in this week.

My first workout attempt was kettlebell moves last night.  I tried to complete the following workout:

I made it half way through before I gave out.  I was using a 15lb kettlebell and it was challenging.  This is a great workout, that I will continue to work on being able to complete.  I utilized the Gymboss application for iPhone.  It is an adequate interval timer.  My favorite feature is the triple boxing bell that I set to go off at the end of the rest periods.  As hard as this routine was and even though I only made it half way through, I did love this workout.  Have I mentioned I love my kettlebell?… I love my kettlebell.

I highly recommend doing your workout in front of a mirror.  The first reason being, you can watch your form.  If you are not holding the form correctly, you could invite injury and/or make the exercise less effective.  Also, what is more motivating to keep going than seeing yourself doing the exercise?  After seeing myself, I can tell you I do not like they way my body looks.  This just fuels me to keep working my tale off… literally.

Do you all have any workout tips?  links to great kettlebell routines?  Please comment and share below!

Have a great productive week,

Spaghetti squash is so good! Takes just like pasta as long as all of it is covered in marinara sauce. It’s gross without sauce haha

I am excited to try it tonight! I have my homemade marinara ready and waiting!

You’re going to love it! You get your “pasta” taste and feel without the guilt, that’s the best part.

How do you cook your squash?

      • shelinahhhh July 22, 2012 at 5:23 pm #

I cut it in half and put it in the oven for an hour and a half or until I see the squash turning dark I believe at 400 degrees. Most websites say two hours at 400 degrees but that was too long when I cooked it the first time. I haven’t cooked it in awhile though. Then when it’s all soft I take a fork and rake it all out. I don’t use anything but marinara sauce, I’m really simple with food, but I’m sure you can use ground turkey meat and cheese with it if you’d like, but I’d look up recipes if you’re going to make it complicated 🙂

I’m not sure if you got my last reply, sometimes it doesn’t post and I’m still new to WordPress. But how did your squash turn out??

Fantastic!!! I am behind posting about it, but I loved it. I think I did not roast it long enough it was a tad crunchy for me at first.

Haha I responded last night and it looks like it is not here. It turned out fantastic! The only thing was that I think I did not roast it long enough because it had a little more bite to it than I would have preferred. Thanks for asking!
