Think You Know Me Thursday: The Hubs Edition

25 Oct

Thanks to my blogging friend Mel at 4Kottez Runs It  for her Fact or Fiction Friday posts and the post about her husband  for inspiring my latest blog segment Think You Know Me Thursdays.

I thought since I share pretty much every detail about my body…weight, size, measurements, hormones, bloating, etc., that it might be nice to share more about who this FitChick In Training person is.

I believe that I am much more than a fat chick trying to get fit.  On the surface, I might appear rather normal and possibly boring.  Below that is a crude humored, sarcastic chick who loves to laugh and loves to love the people closest to her.

We will see how long I can keep this segment up.  I have a little running list of the strange or possibly interesting factoids about me, but I am not reality TV caliber interesting strange.  So, you may not have to endure very many of these Thursday posts.

Let’s see.  I have already shared my penchant for books (no bookophilia, please), the story about being a dumb drunk 21 year old with a broken ankle, and if you have read even one of my posts, you know my heart belongs to one little girl, who I call Tink.

I think it is only fair to share a little about the person who owns the rest of my heart.  The Hubs!  I should have called him Bawbaw on the blog,  instead of The Hubs.  Bawbaw is what I call him…in addition to his real name of course.  This is our term of endearment for one another.  There is no honey, sugar pie, dear for us.  No, we prefer this cave man meets Andy Kaufman sounding word.  It is a variation of baby.  That is where this started.  We were baby this and baby that.  Then when one of us would raz the other we started saying baby with a tone…think baaaabaaaay (as in please stop or come on).  As the cutesy new couple stuff wore off, the hubs shortened it and made it growly and quite funny…and BawBaw was born.  He is my Bawbaw and I am his Bawbaw.

Hi my name is Bawbaw this is my husband Bawbaw…where is my other husband Larry?

My husband is a composer and is very much right brained and artsy fartsy.  I, on the other hand, am very left brained.  I am logical and pragmatic.  We balance each other out drive each other nuts in the best way possible.  For all of our personality differences, we share two very common similarities….We love that little Tink more than life itself, and we make each other laugh.  He is off the wall in a way that totally tickles my funny bone, and my random delivery inappropriate comments catches him off guard and humors him as well.

Vampires Y’all!

Two memories that always make me laugh like a hyena:

1. Anytime we would get cash (you know money we already had out of the ATM), he would say in his best Dave Chappell voice, “We’re Rich B!+ch!”.
2. Pre-Tink and stone cold sober, I got him to yell out of our car window in a drive thru and to a pedestrian on the street…”Chocolate Rain!”.

We don’t play when it comes to karaoke!

At this point you may think we are insane, but I tell you we can have so much fun together.  He is my best friend and while we can work each others nerves, we both are better for having the other.

He is my biggest supporter during this journey, but in a non-pressure kind of way.  He learned a long time ago that you can’t push a FatChick…literally and figuratively.  He never made me feel bad about myself and always seemed to find me attractive (or at least make me feel that way) even at my heaviest.  At times, when I would be depressed and down on myself, he would try to encourage me.  That would only back fire on him and I would lash out.  It was my insecurities rearing their ugly head.  I knew deep down he really did not care what I weighed as long as I was happy with myself, but try explaining that to a depressed insecure mess.

Last year he entered a new realm of existence in my heart.  He is now dadda!  He loves our little Tink so much, and I could not have asked for a better father to our daughter.  He is a hands on dad, and he plays Mr. Mom 3 days a week!

So, I may fuss because he does not clean to my standard, and because he is a little clueless about our finances at times, but by golly if the boy can make me and my baby laugh…I think I will keep him!

My favorite picture of him!

Have any funny stories to share?  You know I love to laugh!  Give a shout out to the person who supports, motivates, and/or “gets” you in the comments below!

Stay Strong and Keep Moving,
